Police in the northern Spanish city of Barcelona say a white van has jumped the sidewalk in the city’s historic Las Ramblas district, injuring several people. Police cordoned off the broad street and shut down its stores. Las Ramblas, a street of stalls and shops that cuts through the center of Barcelona, is one of the city’s top tourist destinations.
By Ed Cropley JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - Police have put a "red alert" on South Africa's borders to prevent any attempt by Zimbabwean first lady Grace Mugabe, accused of assaulting a model in a Johannesburg hotel, to flee the country. Mrs Mugabe, 52, has asked for diplomatic immunity in the case, but has not been charged. The alleged victim, 20-year-old model Gabriella Engels, has accused Mugabe of barging into a hotel where Engels was meeting with Mugabe's sons, and whipping her with an electric cord.
Donald Trump has just tweeted once again about the events in Charlottesville, Virginia saying that the removal of statues of Confederate Generals makes him "sad to see the history and culture of our great country being ripped apart". Mr Trump has given several statements on the events and has doubled-down on his initial comments that "many sides" were responsible for the violence in Charlottesville, not just neo-Nazis and white supremacists. Sad to see the history and culture of our great country being ripped apart with the removal of our beautiful statues and monuments.
