ALPINE, Utah (AP) — U.S. Rep. Jason Chaffetz's ascent to national prominence leading a House oversight committee was rooted largely in his embrace of the spotlight and willingness to take on confrontations.
Fox News fires host accused of 'leaving room because IT technician was black'
Fox News grandee Bob Beckel has been fired after allegedly making racist remarks towards a black employee. In addition to a number of sexual abuse allegations, the network is also facing a racial discrimination lawsuit brought by 23 current and former employees. The lawyers handling the race case, Douglas Wigdor and Jeanne Christense, said Mr Beckel was fired because of an offensive comment he made to a black IT technician who came to service his computer earlier this week.
Iranians turn out in large numbers for closely watched vote
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Millions of Iranians voted late into the night Friday to decide whether incumbent President Hassan Rouhani deserves another four years in office after securing a landmark nuclear deal, or if the sluggish economy demands a new hard-line leader who could return the country to a more confrontational path with the West.
